Meet The Team

Alana Gregory-Carreon

Executive Director

Alana Gregory-Carreon was born and raised in Carlsbad, New Mexico. She attended college at Texas Tech University, majoring in Music Education. Alana taught for several years before moving to Dallas, Texas, in order to earn her Master's Degree. In 2009, Alana earned a Master's Degree in Community Counseling, followed by a Master's Degree in Music Therapy in 2010. Alana moved back to the Carlsbad area with her family in 2012 and helped pioneer the Faith, Hope, & Love Foundation. She is currently a licensed Music Therapist, a Licensed Counselor in both New Mexico and Texas, and serves as the Executive Director of the Faith, Hope, & Love Foundation. 

Marjorie Gregory

Secretary/Treasurer

Originally from Oklahoma, Marjorie met and married Carlsbad native Larry Gregory in college.  After graduating from Northeastern Oklahoma State University, the couple returned to Carlsbad to make a home and raise their family.  Marjorie worked for the family business enterprises in the early years before joining the Carlsbad Municipal Schools where she taught at Joe Stanley Smith Elementary for 23 years. She retired in 2005.  Marjorie is the pianist at First Assembly of God Church and is a founding member of the music group, Soul’d Out.  She has volunteered for many civic and service organizations in the community, and in 2014 joined her family in fulfilling  the lifelong dream of establishing a foundation to help the homeless and people in need.  Marjorie is a full time volunteer at the Faith, Hope and Love Foundation and serves as its Secretary/Treasurer.

Jennifer Prell

Social Services Specialist

Jennifer left her home state of Alaska in 2005 to pursue a degree at Wayland Baptist University in Plainview, Texas. She graduated in 2008 with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology. Jennifer went to work for the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services as a conservatorship caseworker until she and her family moved to Carlsbad in 2010. Jennifer is heavily involved with the children’s ministries at Blodgett Street Baptist Church and other community organizations. She enjoys working with children and is passionate about serving the families and individuals in our community.

Angie May

Brittany's Hope Coordinator

Angie May was born and raised in Tularosa, NM. When she graduated high school, she moved to Las Cruces, NM, to study Communicative Disorders at NMSU. She earned her bachelor’s degree in 2000 and moved on to ENMU to get her Masters in Speech Pathology. In 2005, while she was getting her master’s degree, she married her high school best friend, Cody May. She graduated from ENMU in 2007, and with her husband moved to Carlsbad. Angie worked as a Speech Language Pathologist in the Carlsbad School Systems for 12 years before joining the Faith, Hope, and Love team in 2019 to facilitate Brittany’s Hope. Angie and Brittany Martin (the name sake of Brittany’s Hope) were best friends, coworkers, and office mates before Brittany passed away in 2017. When the time came for Brittany’s Hope to have its own representative within the Faith, Hope, & Love Foundation, Angie took up the call to honor Brittany and all those suffering with a cancer diagnosis in Carlsbad and the surrounding areas.

Kathy Cole

Educational Coordinator

Kathy was raised in Carlsbad, NM and attended college at NMSU in Las Cruces. She received her bachelor's degree in elementary education, and her master's degree in curriculum and instruction. Kathy met her husband, Lyle at college and they married in 1991. The next year they moved back to Carlsbad! Kathy taught second grade at Monterrey elementary before starting a family. She and Lyle have three boys, and Kathy has loved raising them. Kathy spent many years volunteering at schools, church, and various community organizations. She has worked for the schools as an interventionist for the last few years. In August of 2019, Kathy transitioned to working with the Foundation as our Community Liaison for our Brittany's Hope and Scholarship departments. 

Donna Johns

Educational Director

Donna Johns was born and raised in Carlsbad, NM.  She has been married to James for 26 years and together they have two daughters, Hannah and Kennedy.  Donna has a bachelor’s degree in Secondary Education, master’s degree in Pedagogy and Learning and endorsements in Special Education, Social Studies and School Administration.  She has taught in the Southeastern part of the state for over 20 years.  She recently transitioned from teaching students to training, mentoring and coaching teachers for CES in Albuquerque.  Donna works in Roswell, Hobbs and Carlsbad training, mentoring and coaching new teachers,  volunteers at First United Methodist Church and other civic organizations in the community.  She is serving as the educational consultant for Faith, Hope and Love.

Brooke Cannon

Administrative Assistant

While Brooke may have been born in Lubbock, TX she is a Carlsbad girl through and through! She and her family moved to Carlsbad when she was four years old. When she graduated from Carlsbad High, she attended college at NMSU-Carlsbad. She earned her Associate degree in Arts in 2015. During this time she married her high school sweetheart, Stephen Cannon. She helps lead worship at Carlsbad Bible Church. She joined the Faith, Hope, & Love team as our Administrative Assistant in August of 2019. 

Tammy Schmidt

Volunteer & Donations Coordinator

Tammy Schmidt grew up in Indiana where she graduated from Jasper High School.  She earned a bachelor’s degree in Marketing from Indiana State University. Upon college graduation, she and her high school sweetheart, Greg, married and left home to settle in Louisiana.  In 1997, they relocated to Carlsbad and have made it home with their children for the last two decades.

Tammy spent many years working in Children’s Ministry as both a volunteer and a church staff member. After several years of volunteering with donations at FHL, she transitioned into her present position.
