The Gospel is not only a message of forgiveness but also a message of transformation! When you declare Jesus as Lord and Savior, the Bible states that your identity is completely changed! When you are born again, you are delivered from the domain of darkness and transferred to the Kingdom of God’s beloved Son. When this exchange happens, you now walk in a new capacity to demonstrate the Heavenly way of Jesus Christ.
This transformation, or new identity, now ensures that you can approach God with confidence as He now sees you as righteous and holy. This reality is not made possible by your effort, but because Jesus paid the price for your forgiveness and your transformation on the cross. 2 Corinthians 5:21 declares, “For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.”
In order for us to live as new creations in Jesus Christ, we must know and believe the Word of God. We must allow the truth of our new identity to replace everything we have believed to be true of ourselves according to our old nature. Sin has been swallowed up by righteousness. Anger has been overcome by peace. Laziness has been driven out by zeal for the Lord. Hatred has been reduced to nothing by love.
The book of Romans speaks about the difference between living by the Spirit and living by the flesh. To live by the Spirit you must set your mind on the things of the Spirit! When we set our mind on the flesh, it leads to death, but, when we set our mind on the Spirit, it will always lead to life and peace! You will reveal the new creation as you walk by the Spirit!
The beauty of the new creation is that it is based upon receiving the same power that raised Jesus Christ from the dead! The same power that raised Jesus from the dead is placed inside of you so all that is in you will be transformed, and empowered with the Spirit of God Almighty! As a new creation, you are now a house for the Holy Spirit to dwell inside! Walk in confidence that what Christ has produced in you will be revealed through you!
My Prayer for You
Father, I thank you for the work that you did on the cross. Your death and resurrection allows me to be a child of God, free from all guilt, condemnation, and sin. Lord, I pray that you will reveal to us how we are new creations, remind us that the old has passed and the new has come! Let us
live from that place. We love you. Thank you for a making a way where there was no way. Amen
