Set Your Gaze

fhlpfoundation

And so dear brothers and sisters, you are now made holy, and each of yours invited to the feast of your heavenly calling. So fasten your thoughts fully onto Jesus, whom we embrace as our Apostle and King-Priest.

Hebrews 3:1(TPT)

This morning as I read Hebrews this verse really caught me, more so the second part of it ".. fasten your thoughts fully onto Jesus.." I've noticed that lately I tend to let current circumstances overwhelm my thoughts causing me to immediately step into panic and worry. I find myself in a dark place believing lies about the situation at hand. I don't want to live like that anymore, I want to choose abundance that is my inheritance.

What if we chose to fix our thoughts on Jesus instead?

How do we begin to make that a habit?

It's really easy to call on a friend to help in moments of fear or worry, it would be the same to call on Jesus in times of turmoil. Trusting in Him to remove those thoughts; handing them over to him and allowing him to hand us truth. The best way to live in habitual relationship with Jesus is to develop that relationship with Him. A simple step in that direction would be in prayer when I or we are feeling overwhelmed we can take a moment to pray. Talking with Him like we would a friend. When we feel like we need that extra boost for the day ahead listening to worship music to posture our hearts toward Heaven, fixing our gaze on the Father. Finding a verse that reveals truth about our current struggle brings hope. Even praying that verse over our lives causes us to enter into peace.

As I studied deeper into Hebrews 3 I went to my bible app to find similar scripture as I searched I came across a note someone created from reading this chapter.

They wrote : "We have to believe in God in order to enter his rest. We have to entrust in him our everything and be guided in the way he wants us to go in. For his will to be done in our lives, for our betterment and for him to get the glory our of our lives, we have to submit our way of thinking and we see. We need to seek God for understanding and clarification in our lives so that we don't have to experience mistakes or misfortunes unnecessarily."

I thought this was a great summary of the chapter learning to entrust him with all that we have so that we may experience joy and peace. Thoughtfully and attentively consider Jesus.

My Prayer for You

Father I don't want my thoughts to be consumed by fear or turmoil, help me to continuously fasten my thoughts fully onto you. Lord that I may enter your presence handing over my every thought as you replace them with your thoughts. Reveal yourself to me in fresh ways. Father thank you for being so faithful to me even when I am not. I choose you today. In Jesus precious and Holy name

Amen.
